The most beautiful beaches and bays in Mallorca

These are the 22 most beautiful beaches in Mallorca

Every holiday in Mallorca in Spain also includes a visit to one of the beautiful beaches, and there are plenty of those on the Balearic island. From small hidden bays that you can only reach on foot to miles of natural sandy beaches. Here you can jump into the sea at a different place every day. But they all have one thing in common: turquoise water!

I'll show you the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca and which bays you absolutely must have seen, especially in the east of the Spanish island. I'll also tell you why the beaches in the north-east of the island are ideal for a Mallorca beach holiday with children.

Of course, I will also tell you great insider tips for secluded beaches and for dog beaches, where you are welcome with your four-legged friend all year round.

Beaches Mallorca Map: Discover the most beautiful bays on the island

To give you an overview right away, I have created a practical map with the most beautiful beaches in Mallorca. So you can see in which corner of the island the most beautiful bays are waiting for you.

1. Beach of Cala Sant Vicenç

Cala Sant Vicenç is located in the northeast of Mallorca near Pollença - I used to go here a lot when I was a kid. The turquoise water color of the bay is stunning and so clear that you can snorkel or dive here.

Basically there are four beaches in Cala Sant Vicenç. While the Platja de Cala Barques, the Platja de Cala Clara and the Cala Molins have a sandy beach, at Cala Carbó you walk over stones or stairs into the sea. From all of them you look at the cliffs of Formentor.

2. Cala Llombards Beach

Cala Llombards is a small but very popular cove near Santanyí. With turquoise water and a white sandy beach, it is one of the most beautiful beaches in the southeast of Mallorca.

There is a cliff on the right side of the bay that you can reach via a narrow path. From here you can jump perfectly into the water. Otherwise there are only boathouses here. The bay also has a car park and is therefore accessible by car.

3. Caló des Moro Beach

This small cove is located near Cala Llombards and is absolutely heavenly. Since it is in a private nature reserve, you will not see any houses here. The beach can therefore only be reached on foot. From the parking lot you need about 15 minutes.

Note: Unfortunately there is no infrastructure on the Caló des Moro - in one corner of the beach it stinks terribly of urine. In addition, the bay has become increasingly popular in recent years. In the high season thousands of people make a pilgrimage here every day, which is why I can only recommend a visit in the low season.

4. S'Almonia

The small bay of S'Almonia is on the other side of the Caló des Moro in the same nature reserve. Again, you can only get there on foot from the parking lot. The way is a little bit longer and it will take you around 20 minutes.

The bay only has a mini sandy beach, but that is exactly what makes it so appealing: Here you sunbathe on rocks from which you jump into the sea. The water color shines from turquoise to azure depending on the sunlight. There are also a few pretty boathouses on the bay, which create a special atmosphere.

5. Beaches in the Mondragó Natural Park

The Parc Natural de Mondragó is located near Santanyí, in the southeast of Mallorca. The nature reserve, which is just over 765 hectares, also includes three fantastically beautiful beaches: Cala Mondragó, Cala S'Amarador and Caló des Borgit. Cala Mondragó has the largest beach and the nature park was named after it.

No matter which of the three beaches you choose, you will enjoy fine sandy beaches and clear, turquoise water everywhere. Since there is a pine forest in the hinterland, these are beaches with shade. You can also look forward to a good infrastructure here.

6. Cala Portals Vells

Cala Portals Vells in the southwest of Mallorca is also known as Three Finger Bay. It is located near Magaluf and belongs to the municipality of Calvia. The bay is home to three beaches: Platja del Rei, Playa del Mago and Platgeta de Portals Vells.

The latter is the largest and most beautiful of the three beaches. It has a small car park, while there is also a restaurant on the left. The sand is white and fine and the seabed is mostly sandy. To the south, you can explore another beautiful mini-beach and the Cova de Portals Vells caves.

7. Playa de Formentor

The Platja de Formentor is one of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast of Mallorca. This narrow sandy beach with pine trees and crystal-clear, gently sloping water hardly resembles any other beach on Mallorca. It even reminds you a little of the Caribbean. From here you can see the Bay of Pollença, with the Tramuntana mountains in the background.

It is somewhat isolated on the Formentor peninsula. You can reach it either by car or by shuttle bus. Because in the high season access to the beach is limited. Alternatively, you can take a road bike tour to Platja de Formentor. Or you join one of the numerous boat trips to the beach.

8. Playa de Muro

Playa de Muro belongs to the milelong bay of Alcúdia in the northeast of Mallorca. The beach extends to 6 kilometers and is divided into four sections: Sector 1, Sector 2, Es Comú and Ses Casetes des Capellans. Everywhere you can look forward to fine sandy beaches and dreamlike water colors.

Because the beach falls flat into the water, it is one of the best beaches for families in Mallorca. The beach also has special play areas for children. There are also plenty of parking spaces here. However, the beach is very popular and always full in the high season.

While numerous hotels, restaurants and water sports schools are connected to sectors 1 and 2, you can enjoy absolute peace and quiet in Es Comú. No hotel castles rise up here, but dunes. Further south at Ses Casetes des Capellans, however, it is busier again.

9. Playa de Alcudia

Playa de Alcudia is north of Playa de Muro. This part is also one of the best beaches for children in Mallorca. The wide, fine sandy beach glows almost white in contrast to the turquoise blue water. The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag and is therefore particularly clean.

The popular beach is located directly at the port of Port d'Alcúdia. Numerous restaurants, shops and hotels are within walking distance. The medieval town of Alcúdia with its numerous sights is only a few kilometers away from the beach.

10. Playa de Port de Pollensa

Playa de Port de Pollensa is also one of Mallorca's beaches in the northeast. This beach also has the Blue Flag and is ideal for families with children. At 1.5 kilometers, it is significantly smaller than Playa de Alcudia and also narrower. But here, too, you walk flat into the water for a long time.

The beauty of this beach is its location: on the left you can see the rugged mountains of Formentor, with the peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana rising in the background. There are numerous restaurants and cafés as well as a few shops around the harbor. There are also playgrounds right on the beach, while further south there is even a section for dogs.

11. Cala Agulla Beach

Cala Agulla beach is located in the east of Mallorca near Capdepera and Cala Rajada. Here you will also find a fine, light sandy beach. The special thing is that the sand partially glows pink. Although there are rocks in some places, it is mostly sandy and the beach slopes gently into the water. Thus, the beach of Cala Agulla is perfect for children.

In addition, the bay is surrounded by a nature reserve: while the houses of the village of the same name can still be seen on the right, the view to the right and into the hinterland offers an idyllic natural backdrop. Here there is an extensive forest with pine trees, some of which almost reach the water and provide shade for the beach.

Here you can go hiking or even go horseback riding. Or you just enjoy the view from the Mirador des Guilló on the small promontory.

Incidentally, to the north there is located the much smaller Calo Molto with the beautiful Platja de Ses Cavasses. There is also a large parking lot at Cala Agulla, as well as sufficient rubbish bins.

12. Es Trenc

Playa Es Trenc, also Platja Es Trenc or just Es Trenc, is the longest natural beach in Mallorca. It is located in the south of the Balearic Island and belongs to the municipality of Campos.

Since it is in a nature reserve, there are no buildings here. Instead, an extensive dune landscape and forest extends in the hinterland.

Since this milelong, fine sandy beach falls flat into the water, it is also suitable for children. While you enjoy the tranquility of nature in the middle, the towns of Ses Covetes and Colonia de Sant Jordi are at the outer ends. There is parking, good infrastructure and lifeguards. Known as Mallorca's Caribbean beach, Es Trenc gets busy in high season. So get there early.

13. Cala Varques Beach

Cala Varques beach is located south of Porto Cristo in the east of the island of Mallorca. The bay is quite isolated in the nature reserve of the same name. There is no parking space. You have to park your car on a dirt road that turns off the Ma-4014. From here you walk about 20 minutes until you reach the bay. The easiest way to get to Cala Varques is by boat.

Due to its remote location, tourists only stray here in the high season. In the low season you have the fine sandy beach and the crystal clear, turquoise water almost to yourself. The bay is also so picturesque because it is framed by two rocky headlands. Pines and macchie, a Mediterranean bush, grow on these. You will also discover a natural rock arch in the middle of the sea.

14. Cala D'Egos

Cala D'Egos in the southwest of the island is still a real insider tip among Mallorca's beaches. It is located near Port d'Andratx and is difficult to access. But the water here is azure blue and you hardly have to share the picturesque bay with others. Even if the pebble beach is not explicitly marked as such, nudists like to use it.

There is no real parking space. From Port d'Andratx follow Carrer Cala d'Egos until the bumpy path has reached the hill and widens. Here you see a cairn and park your car. You can then reach the beach via a 30-minute hike, which takes you about 300 meters downhill for about 4 kilometers.

Alternatively, you can take the boat to Cala D'egos. Or you can rent a kayak in Port d'Andratx and paddle over to the bay. Incidentally, the hiking trail above the bay is part of the first stage of the GR 221 long-distance hiking trail, which is one of Mallorca's most unforgettable adventures.

15. Cala Torta Beach

Cala Torta is one of the most beautiful beaches in eastern Mallorca. The beach is quite isolated, near the nature reserve of the Parc natural de la península de Llevant. Due to its seclusion, it is hardly visited by holidaymakers, but it is absolutely gorgeous.

You can only reach the beach via a longer journey: from Artà alone, one of the larger towns in the north-east of Mallorca, you need 20 minutes by car to the upper parking lot. From here, several bumpy paths lead down: Right in front of the parking lot, it goes to Cala Torta and other parking lots under pine trees in the sand.

Straight ahead and to the left, the paths lead to Cala Mitjana and the small Cala Estreta. It is best to only cover these routes on foot or with a 4×4 like our off-road camper. Once at the bottom, you can walk from one beach to the other. Incidentally, Cala Torta is also a popular nudist beach.

16. Playa Coll Baix

This beautiful bay is located in the northeast of Mallorca on the La Victoria peninsula. The beach is named after the Coll Baix: This pass is at an altitude of 140 meters. The beach is framed by striking cliffs and consists of fine pebbles. The turquoise blue water is great for snorkeling.

You can reach Playa Coll Baix either by boat from Alcúdia or on foot. There are two options: either park your car near the Collet des Coll Baix rest area and walk down to the beach for about 30-45 minutes. However, the road to the parking lot is full of potholes and more suitable for off-road vehicles.

Or you can take a hike of several hours that takes you from the Ermita de la Victoria via the Mirador de Penya des Migdia and the Talaia d'Alcúdia to Playa Coll Baix. The way back is the same way. Alternatively, you can walk back via the rest area and experience a circular hike. This route is significantly longer, but you have to conquer less altitude.

17. Cala Marmols

Cala Màrmols is one of the most remote and at the same time most beautiful beaches in the southeast of Mallorca. You can only get to the bay by boat or on foot: you start your hike south at the lighthouse of Cap de ses Salines, which you can reach via the Ma-6110. From here you walk about 5 kilometers up the coast.

There is a lot of scree along the partly vertical rocky coast. The nature trail is not always clearly recognizable. You will be rewarded with a beautiful bay at the end of the path. Surrounded by marble rocks up to 20 meters high and steep walls you will find a fine white sandy beach here. The water is also crystal clear and turquoise.

18. Cala Figuera de Formentor beach

There are several bays with the name Cala Figuera on Mallorca. However, we mean the somewhat remote Cala Figuera on the Formentor peninsula in the northeast of Mallorca. I used to come here a lot as a kid and love the idyllic setting of the bay.

You can reach the beach via a 15-minute hike from the parking lot. Even if you don't expect a fine sandy beach below, but a pebble beach, you can look forward to turquoise and partly crystal-clear water here. It is precisely the contrast of the paradisiacal water color to the rugged rocks all around that makes the bay so special.

19. Cala de Sa Calobra beach

Sa Calobra is without a doubt the most spectacular beach in Mallorca. It is located in the mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana in the north of the island. The pebble beach is framed by gigantic rocks and forms the end of the Torrent de Pareis gorge. This backdrop makes Sa Calobra one of the top attractions in Mallorca.

You can reach the beach either via the Túnel Sa Calobra from the village of the same name or by boat. Alternatively, you can also take a hike through the gorge. Incidentally, because of its meter-high cliffs, it is also known as the Grand Canyon of Mallorca. The hike is challenging and you should plan 4-6 hours. In the winter months and after heavy rainfall, however, the gorge is not accessible.

20. Playa de Na Patana

The Platja de Na Patana is the most beautiful dog beach in Mallorca. It belongs to the municipality of Santa Margalida and is located south of Can Picafort. The special thing about it: The approximately 100-metre-long section for dogs is spacious and offers a fine golden sandy beach - the few other beaches for dogs on Mallorca are not nearly as beautiful or are pebbly beaches.

The water is wonderfully clear and there is a dune system in the background. The natural beach is located in the nature reserve of Son Real, so you can enjoy pure nature and tranquility here with your four-legged friend. You can reach the dog beach by walking about 10 minutes through the dunes and across the normal beach. Among the dog beaches in Mallorca, the Platja de Na Patana is still a real insider tip.

Note: When I last visited this beach I could not see a designated dog area. Instead, I was greeted by a sign saying that dogs are not allowed to run free. Nevertheless, dogs seem to be tolerated here even without a leash and can romp around freely.

21. Playa Llenaire

This dog beach is also located in the northeast of Mallorca. It is located on the southern edge of Port de Pollença, towards Alcúdia. Although Playa Llenaire is a rocky and stone beach with little sand, the dog beach offers plenty of shady spots.

Because here are several pine trees that reach almost to the water. Benches with tables were set up under these. Locals like to come here for a picnic on weekends. Since the dog beach is in a residential area, you will find plenty of parking spaces along the surrounding streets.

Attention: In the spring, Mallorca is plagued by processionary moths. Since these are mainly found in pine forests on the coast, you should be particularly careful on this dog beach.

22. Cala Blanca

Cala Blanca also has a small dog beach. It is located near Andratx, in the southwest of Mallorca. Above the bay you can park your car for free. Then a steep, unpaved path leads down about 60 meters to the beach. It's more of a scree channel.

Although this dog beach also consists of pebbles, you can enjoy a beautiful bay with partly crystal-clear water. The bay is not overcrowded, since hardly any tourists go down to the beach. But the bay is often approached by boats that are anchored here.
